Commencement

Oh well, I graduated. We had commencement this Sunday. So, I got my degree. My undergrad convocation was filled with emotion. Flashing images of 4 years of ups and downs. You look at the tennis court and remember all the times you played there. You go to your lab and remember the insane all nighters. You go to 'Gurunath Cafeteria', and remember all the coffee and omlette sessions with 'wing junta'. You think of all the things that did and didn't work out. You wonder about what the future has in hold for you.

Well, this time around there was nothing. All, I could think of was that I needed to go to Chicago to hunt for an apartment. And, that I needed to pay the rent and return library books. And, that I needed to make plans for the summer. Even, the commencement ceremony didn't seem to hold any charm. It was way too crowded (what with 8,000 + students graduating), and impersonal. The speakers (or I) seemed jaded, and I expected the usual message of 'You are going out into the world, go get it.', and thats exactly what I got. Of all the people I have met here, well, I am going to continue bumping into them on and off in the future. Of, all the times I had, well, I am sure I am going to have good times in the future.

I am looking forward to my new job and entering the 'big bad world'. Living alone is going to be an interesting experience, as I have never been 'alone alone'. Time to 'grow up grow up'. Also time to use a lot of ' ' ' ' expressions :). I recently got a letter from the HR lady wishing me a great summer as 'we would be keeping you very busy once you join.', and I suppose they don't lie on such things :).

Congratulations, Ramani.. A well-deserved hardworking sincere boy..who appreciates the finer things in life! :)

Did i say that right? Throw your graduation hat and leave the garage to join in with the rest of the highway cars...

But, remember..once you are able to hit 180 miles per hour.. u can then enjoy the ride more!

Wishing you a great happy ride of life! Highway is a fast pace lane.. less bumpier... Just hope that by starting from US fine highways.. driving in our bumpy muddy roads of India wouldnt be a problem after all..:D

Yeah, there's no place like IITM *sigh*

Congratulations anyway! Hopefully I'll come to Chicago in July as well.

muchos congrats!...altho the ceremony may not have meant anything, this graduation is prolly more of a 'closing of a chapter' type thing...
I hope your work treats you well...living alone is one interesting ride, lots of ups and downs...but with the right attitude, it can morph into great fun :)...
do make sure you travel somewhere though, before the HR lady chains you to your cubicle ;)

Thank you Thank you :)..
[Intern] Well its not bad but its definitely more grown up.
Oh I haven't seen that one. One reason why I am tempted not to watch it is because it might be a soppy cry fest. World Trade Center, another movie is also out.
NEed to see MI III as well.
Saw Da Vinci Code..Disappointing..Never liked the book that much..the movie was plain cheesy..it had a lot more potential..
Hmm..well..its subjective...its pretty Woody Allen type humor with lots of context..so depends on if you like that stuff.
[sd] Thanks :)
[Divster] :)..
Oh yes..you can..but you should take care not to crash..
[Prashanth] :)..Cool I will see you then. I hope to be settled in there by the first week of July. Got a nice apartment.
Well, enjoy grad school, because soon you will say there is no place like grad school.
[alraqs] thank you thank you :)..
Oh well...mostly..unless I plan to jump back for an MBA..or if I get fired or something..when I come back and continue Ph. D...but lets think +ve thoughts...
Well..living alone is great if you have friends around...I almost live alone here and its fine because I keep hanging around people...
Oh yes..I am deciding what to do this summer...I have 2-3 weeks off...lets see..:)..
