Well..I finally update it..

Well here I am back in the US after a great vacation in India. Saarang, Chennai (nee Tata nee Gold Flake) Open and home. Had a great time meeting friends and family.
Well now it's back to work and winter. Coursework and research work plod on. In my spare time I usually play tennis. But now it's too cold to play tennis, so I have taken up other games that use a racquet and ball- squash and racquet ball!
Squash is quite an interesting game. It's not as complicated as tennis but it's a whole lot tiring. You keep shuffling up and down the court for everypoint. It's fast paced and unlike tennis most of the points tend to be pretty long and involved. Well it's can be like that in tennis too, but maybe if you are carlos moya. What is fun about the game is the kind of stuff that is permitted. The ball can richochet of the side walls , back walls wherever. Another thing I like about the game is that the ball cannot go out!! Whatever you do the ball is going to hit that wall and come right back at you. The most important thing about the game ( to me atleast) is that it's indoors. So it's one thing that you can play in winter when it's way too cold to play outside.
Looking forward to spring break in Seattle with a trip to Vancouver.
Life in grad school is pretty different. It's more work focused and everyone is trying to make a career for themselves. Maybe my case is special, but grad school is pretty boring. Apart from your work you really dont have that much of a life. But maybe life does get better as you spend more time in school. But if you think about it it's pretty different from you undergraduate days. Most of your friends you made in the first 2 months of college.
What else. Right now I am busy trying to find an internship for myself. I really do want to do something in Bionformatics but I really dont see myself getting something. I could get into a research lab, but you need to have contacts to do that. You could get into a company, but there should be companies that are looking for people like you. Another option is getting into a government lab, but most of the positions are open only for US Nationals. So , I guess I will mostly have to settle for an intern with a software company. :( The only consolation is that the money is good. With the money I can.....
